Guto Harri is set to leave News UK, publisher of The Sun and The Times, to join Virgin Media-owner Liberty Global as managing director of external communications.
Harri will take on the newly created role as managing director of external communications where he will report to Manuel Kohnstamm, Liberty Global’s SVP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, in London.
He joins Liberty Global in February 2016 and will step down from his post at News UK by the end of the year.
Harri has held his role as director of communications and corporate affairs at News UK for three years. He was previously the director of external affairs for the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
He began his career as a journalist for the BBC where he covered the events surrounding the collapse of communism, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War. Harri rose to become the BBC’s chief political correspondent at Westminster.
